I realized that I really never had time to tell you all about my trip down to the Deep (for real deep) South. I have lived and visited other places besides North Carolina, and NC is truly part of The South. But there is nothing like getting in a car and driving south for 13+ hours to make you feel like a Northerner. Once we hit South Carolina, the gas stations all had boiled peanuts for sale. Heaven! I woke up early this morning, wondering why I had done so, since I had gone to bed not so early. Then I remembered that it was newsletter morning. Yay! I missed you all last week. I have to say I didn't miss cooking, just because I had whirled back into town on Monday morning after a long trip to Mississippi (where those of us from NC feel like real Yankees), and then had a big catering engagement and two kirtan (music) events to prepare for. Old habits die hard. Because I am a full 24 hours late with this newsletter, I see how my mind is already trying to come up with clever, defensive excuses - "I was kidnapped by aliens;" "My dog ate my recipes;" "I was sick with a fever;" "My boulders (moving boxes) got out of control and started crushing the entire house..." You get the picture. However the reality is much more down to earth than all that. My life was overwhelmed by work, catering, traveling and singing (ya-h
