Govinda's Goes on the Road
Good morning! I don't know about you all, but I really, and I mean, really have missed you all. It has been a very busy several weeks so far. The National Animal Rights Conference in Alexandria, VA was an amazing event. I worked harder than I thought was possible, had a huge boost to my confidence due to the overwhelmingly positive reaction to our food, and met many, many beautiful new friends.
I definitely needed last week to recover from my adventures though. There is no
August On the Horizon
Even if you are one of those "Let me skip this long-winded blog and just read the menu" kind of person (no hurt feelings, just acknowledging that this happens), please do read this section today, as it contains important information about our schedule for the month of August.
A couple of weeks ago, Helene, the organizer for the Triangle VegFest, asked me if I would be interested in being a vendor for the National Animal Rights Conference in Alexandria, VA. Hmm... being a v

Happy Independent Thought Day
I have so many things on my mind and heart, that I am a little torn about where to start. I guess I will start by saying that I wanted to acknowledge that we have just passed through the month of Ramadan. (image quoteswishesms.com) What I already knew about Ramadan:
- Since Islam follows a lunar calendar, the dates of Ramadan change every year.
- Followers of Islam fast during the days, eating only before sunrise and after sunset. They also say extra prayers during this tim

VegFest: Vegas for Vegans
I am bursting with excitement to tell you all about an event that I, as Govinda's Catering, attended yesterday. First let me give you the disclaimer that this is going to be a linkalicious email because I met so many cool people that I just have to share what they are doing! (For a complete list of cool vendor folk, click here.) I know how I get when I am excited about something - my already busy brain starts going light speed on me and I have an even harder time remaining or

Saturday Surprise and Success
Saturday we had what was by far our most successful excursion to the Carrboro Farmers' Market. The market manager was out of town, leaving her lovely assistant, Alex, in charge. Surprise to me, I was to be in the outfield (literally), although I expected to be under the pavilion and was completely unprepared for outdoor vending (meaning no tent). No worries, Alex to the rescue! The Market has a spare tent, which he so kindly fetched and set up for me. He even brought me an ex

Man Proposes, God Disposes
We are back in action with a "Save the Date kind of email. For those of you who did not place an order last week, let me fill you in. I had the opportunity last week to experience that old saying that "First you tell God your plans, and then He laughs." After I diligently put together last week's newsletter and sent it off, my son was diagnosed with a good, strong case of the flu. Despite my valiant attempts to stave it off, I was delirious with fever by that night. There was

Welcoming the New Year with Kirtan
So much is happening! Ooh ooh ooh ooh! This is a reminder that Saturday, New Year's Eve 2016 is going out with a massive double header - Saturday, December 31st - Govinda's Catering will be a guest vendor at the Carrboro Farmers' Market, 9 am - 12 pm. We will be selling Black Eyed Pea Masala, Dirty Rice with Collards (feel that Southern vibe!), Spicy Corn bread Muffins, Banana Bread Muffins, Tamarind Chutney, Mexican Wedding Cookies, and slices of our famous pies - Chocolate

Saving the Date and Setting the Intention
This is a Save the Date kind of email. There are many events coming up in the next few months that I would love to invite you all to. Some of them are music-related, while some are events that feature Govinda's, and some are both. All, I hope, will be fun for you. Please mark your calendars and let me know if you plan to come so that I can make sure to be on the look-out. I am pulling two events out of chronological order because, well, I would love for you to read about them
