Man Proposes, God Disposes

We are back in action with a "Save the Date kind of email. For those of you who did not place an order last week, let me fill you in. I had the opportunity last week to experience that old saying that "First you tell God your plans, and then He laughs." After I diligently put together last week's newsletter and sent it off, my son was diagnosed with a good, strong case of the flu. Despite my valiant attempts to stave it off, I was delirious with fever by that night. There was nothing to do but cancel cooking for the week and fulfill everyone's order this week. There were many silver linings to the whole experience, one of which being that if you didn't get to order from last week's menu, now is your chance! The kofta has waited for everyone to catch up. Another one of the many blessings that came out of last week was that my partner, my son and I spent some serious quality time together watching medicinal tv and videos. We had a sweet vacation together, just not in the way we had envisioned it. So in light of this lesson that you can never really count on being able to fulfill your plans, it seems funny to me to give you this list of upcoming events. Yet, that is one of the big lessons of the Bhagavad-Gita; we must do our duty without being attached to the result. Or in other words, "Man proposes (you do have to propose in order to get anywhere); God disposes."
