The End of a Taxing Season

I don't know if April 15th has any significance to you all other than it happened to be Easter Sunday this year. After spending several years in the tax and bookkeeping business, April 15th is a kind of bold type day for me in that it is generally Tax Day. This year the tax deadline is tomorrow, April 18th, yet that doesn't really mean that my world has been any less crazy than it would have been if the deadline were still the 15th. Suffice it to say that between a few tax clients, the complexities of business taxes (sales tax, employee taxes, etc), and my tax return, I have spent way too much time in front of the computer lately.

Very fortunately for me I have some wonderful people in my life who are adept at prying my little Capricorn, workaholic hands off the keyboard and encouraging me to talk to them, take breaks in the sun, and other acts of balancing. On this Easter Monday morning I am meditating on how I have so much to be grateful for. Thank you all for being part of an exciting year of growth for Govinda's Catering!

Below is a "Save the Date" list of events that I would love to invite you all to. Some of them are music-related, while some are events that feature Govinda's, and some are both. All, I hope, will be fun for you. Please mark your calendars and let me know if you plan to come so that I can make sure to be on the look-out.

Friday, April 21st - April Kirtan and Dinner at Collective Wellness, 3326 Durham Chapel Hill Blvd, Durham. 7 pm Kirtan with Vikas Chauhan and Rani Margolin. 8:30 pm Yoga of Food. Our hostess, Emily Penney, always cooks something delicious and wonderful to share with all. Donations accepted, $10 - $20. Come for all or part of the evening.

Saturday, April 29th - Kirtan with Samadhi at Oasis Cafe, Carr Mill Mall, Carrboro. 7 - 9 pm. Come see how a 9-piece band fits on the tiny stage at Oasis. This little spot of heaven has a wonderfully relaxing atmosphere and genuinely welcoming vibe - a perfect match for the healing sounds of kirtan! Free. Buying of tea and other goods from the Cafe strongly encouraged. ;-)

Saturday, April 29th - Govinda's Catering will be back at the Carrboro Farmers' Market from 7 am - 12 pm. This will be my first time doing the whole shebang of the early morning market hours... Feel free to send me prayers and energy that day, so that we can be empowered for this superhuman task. I will update you all on the menu as we get closer to that date; however, I can give you a sneak preview that we will be bringing back the raw Mint Chocolate Tart, as well as trying out a new recipe for vegan Cinnamon Rolls. I don't know how long these will last, folks... you might want to consider that 7 am starting time after all.

Saturday, May 6th - First Saturday kirtan with Samadhi at Triangle Yoga, 930 MLK blvd., Chapel Hill. Potluck at 6:30, Kirtan from 7-9:00 pm. This month Samadhi will be joined by Dante Baker and his mystical, magical singing bowls. Dante will conduct a sound healing session about half-way through the kirtan, after the crystal bowls have had a chance to absorb the sacred vibrations of the chanting (highly recommend experiencing!). Donations cheerfully accepted.
