June Blooms

This Saturday my band, Samadhi, had a beautiful kirtan at Triangle Yoga in Chapel Hill. I realized that I had been sadly negligent in promoting the event. In fact, if it hadn't been for Facebook, I, myself might have forgotten to attend... Uh, that's when you know that you might have too many things on your mind. Nearly forgetting your own performance is right up there with forgetting your child somewhere (which has happened, but fortunately only twice in 11 years).

That being confessed, I decided I had better safeguard against any more oopsies by doing another "Save the Date" newsletter. Some of the events are music-related, some feature Govinda's, while some events are both. All, I hope, will be fun for you. Please mark your calendars and let me know if you plan to come so that I can make sure to be on the look-out.

Important note: We will not be cooking next week, the week of June 12th, as there is a very special little boy whose birthday is that week. I wanted to give you all advance notice in case you want to adjust your order this week accordingly.

Friday, June 16th -June kirtan and dinner at Collective Wellness, 3326 Durham Chapel Hill Blvd, Durham. 7 pm Yoga of Sound, Kirtan - artists TBA. 8:30 pm Yoga of Food. Our hostess, Emily Penney, always cooks something delicious and wonderful to share with all. Donations accepted, $10 - $20. Come for all or part of the evening.

Saturday, June 17th - Kirtan with Samadhi at Oasis Cafe, Carr Mill Mall, Carrboro. 7:30 - 9 pm. Come see how an 8-piece band fits on the tiny stage at Oasis. This little spot of heaven has a wonderfully relaxing atmosphere and genuinely welcoming vibe - a perfect match for the healing sounds of kirtan! Actually Samadhi and Oasis Cafe have become such harmonious friends that we will be doing a live-recording concert (hopefully to be produced as a cd) there in July. Can I get a "Woo Hoo" ?! Free. Buying of tea and other goods from the Cafe strongly encouraged. Coming early is advised, as this tiny place fills up quickly.

Saturday, June 24th - Govinda's Catering will be back at the Carrboro Farmers' Market from 7 am - 12 pm. This will be my third time doing the whole early morning market thing... Not that the repetition really makes it easier to have a ready and functional booth that early in the morning. Feel free to send me prayers and energy that day, so that I can be empowered for this superhuman task. I will update you all on the menu as we get closer to that date; however, I can give you a sneak preview that we will be bringing back the raw Mint Chocolate Tart, the Sweet Potato Pie, the Maple Pie, the Banh-Cam-inspired Doughnut Holes, and more.

Sunday, June 25th - Triangle VegFest now has monthly mini markets. Eat your vegan hearts out! This month's market will be at Southern Village on the Village Green. At 8 am there will be a 5k race, to benefit Vegans for Peace, then the market will run from 9 am - 1 pm. If we get a good reception at this event, Govinda's will also add these markets to our monthly calendar. Whew, summer is about to get busy!
